Hey, Tim and AJ! Another great listen, as they always are. Put me down as a fan of dialogue on covers. I also don't mind those pop culture signifiers either. At least Halo has good taste, what with The Bangles and David Letterman (and kudos to her friends for knowing that). The braces thing was soooo 80s.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of another comic that used so many "second cover" splash pages than BatO and Outsiders. I wonder why that was. Did Aparo just draw too many cool covers? Was Barr sometimes short on story and ask for it? It's fascinating.
Also fascinating is Halo's breaking the 4th wall. I'd totally forgotten that she'd done it before and I'm on board with it working for her character. Why did we never get an Ambush Bug/Halo team-up?
I'd like to second Tim's recommendation of The Maze Agency, which I bought and loved in real time.
Okay, that's enough for now - I've got a couple more episodes to catch up on!
